The biography

Hermione Jean Granger was born 19th September 1979, a muggle born witch. Though when she first began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy in 1991, she was the brightest and most intelligent of her class mates.

She was sorted into Gryffindor house, though the sorting hat had seriously considered sorting her into Ravenclaw, because of her intelligence. She first met Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley on the Hogwarts Express on the way to school.

She displayed her Gryffindor courage through-out the school year, helping Harry to figure out what the Sorcerer’s stone is, then helping him and Ron to save the stone. Her knowledge of the magical world helps to save all of their lives when the trio get trapped in Devils’ Snare (A magical weed, that traps with its vines and grows tighter as the wizard struggles).

In her second year of school, Hermione greatly assisted Ron and Harry in learning about the Chamber Of Secrets. She brewed the Polyjuice Potion which they need to gain access to the Slytherin common room to question Draco Malfoy about the heir of Slytherin. However, her portion of the potion was ruined when she accidentally added a hair from Millicent Bulstrode’s cat into it, and ended up in the hospital wing, until February. Hermione figured out that the monster inside the Chamber is a basilisk, and is using the pipes to get around Hogwarts and petrify the students. She used a mirror to look around corners, but was unfortunately petrified by the basilisk. However she still provided Ron & Harry with some of the information needed to go ahead with the task of slaying the basilisk.

In her third year of school, Hermione took on a lot of new subjects, so many that she required a time-turner in order to attend each lesson! She had many arguments with Ron when he accused her cat, Crookshanks of eating his pet rat, Scabbers.

When Harry received a Firebolt broomstick anonymously for Christmas, Hermione told Proffesor McGonagall, the broom was confiscated for observation and Hermione was given the cold shoulder by Harry and Ron for weeks. During her solitude she went to see Hagrid and helped him with his campaign for Buckbeak the hippogriff. At the end of the year she assisted Harry in freeing Sirius Black, his godfather by using the time-turner to go back in time.

In her fourth year of school she helped Harry in his triwizard tasks by keeping him sane and also teaching him the Accio summoning charm so that he can summon his Firebolt in the first task. She was taken to the Yule Ball at Christmas by Quidditch superstar Viktor Krum, and this doesn’t go down too well with Ron!

Also, during her fourth year of school she became the founder of S.P.E.W (Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare) Which she decided to start up after becoming very aware of the way house-elves are mistreated.

In her fifth year of school, Hermione became a bit more rebellious. The new Defence Against The Dark Arts teacher was intent on teaching them only theory, so Hermione persuaded Harry to be their teacher. Under the supervision of Harry she learnt many spells and jinks and even learned how to produce her own Patronus Charm which takes on the form of an otter. As part of Dumbledore’s Army she went to the Ministry Of Magic to retrieve the prophecy with Harry, Ron and the others.

In her sixth year of school, we realise how much Hermione likes Ron. Upon smelling the Amortentia potion (a love potion) in potions class she revealed that it smells of:

- Freshly Mown Grass
- New Parchment
- Ron’s hair (not revealed by Hermione, but by JKR)

At the Quidditch tryouts, she confunded Cormac McLaggen who was trying out for the position of Gryffindor Keeper, so that Ron would be given the place. She offered to take Ron to Professor Slughorns Christmas Party, but changed her mind after she found out that Ron was going out with Lavender Brown. Instead, attended the party with Cormac McLaggen, who she didn’t like very much.

When Ron was poisoned on his 17th birthday, Hermione spent every possible moment in the hospital wing at his bedside. When he recovered they became friendly again, and Hermione made herself scarce whenever Lavender shows up. After Ron & Lavender had broken up, she sought comfort in Ron at Dumbledore’s funeral, later committing herself to Harry in the hunt for the horcruxes, instead of returning for her final year of education.

Entering into the 7th year of her friendship with Harry and Ron, Hermione was more determined than ever to help. She cast a memory charm on her parents, making them believe that they are Wendell and Monica Wilkins, who have always wanted to move to Australia, and don’t know that they have a daughter. She stated that if she doesn’t survive the hunt for the horcruxes, that she thought she’s done the charm well enough to keep them safe and happy.

She’d already had the essentials for their quest packed in her beaded bag just incase they needed to make a quick getaway, and as things unfold, it turns out that they did. They took refuge at Grimmauld Place, previously owned by Sirius Black and passed down to Harry after his death.

She took on the identity of Mafalda Hopkirk in order to sneak into the Ministry Of Magic so that they can retrieve the locket horcrux from Dolores Umbridge. After all of the Ministry mayhem, the trio had to take refuge in the woods. Hermione had packed the tent which was used in their fourth year at the Quidditch World Cup but unfortunately, no food.

They decided that they would take turns in wearing the locket horcrux so that it didn’t get lost. When wearing the locket Horcrux, it made Hermione short tempered, but nowhere near as bad as Ron. One night when Ron stormed off out of the tent after an argument with Harry, she ran after him, screaming his name, but he wouldn’t come back.

Hermione and Harry spent weeks alone in the confines of their tent, finally deciding to go to Godcrics Hollow to visit Harry’s parents graves, and to search for the sword of Godric Gryffindor. Whilst there, they were attacked by Voldermort’s snake, but Hermione saved them just in the nick of time. They spent a little more time meandering up and down the country.

When Ron finally returned, she is furious with him, However eventually she let it go. They found out more information about the Deathly Hallows from Xenophilius Lovegood, and were nearly caught by The Death Eaters, once again she saved the day. Eventually they were caught by a gang of Snatchers and were taken to Malfoy Manor. Whilst there she was put under the Cruciatus Curse by Bellatrix Lestrange and tortured for information about the sword of Godric Gryffindor, until she is saved by Harry, Ron and Dobby and taken to Shell Cottage.

She never dwelled upon her torture, and immediately helped to formulate a plan to break into Gringotts Bank to steal another Horcrux. When the plan was executed she took on the identity of Bellatrix Lestrange using Polyjuice potion, and they successfully stole Hufflepuffs Cup from the Lestrange’s vault.

She went back to Hogwarts with Harry and Ron to look for another Horcrux, and then went down to the Chamber Of Secrets with Ron to collect a few basilisk fangs to destroy the horcruxes with. When they reunited themselves Harry, she and Ron shared their first kiss.

She played a big role in the Battle Of Hogwarts duelling many death eaters, one of whom was Bellatrix Lestrange, however Molly Weasley finished the job.

After Voldemorts death, Hermione began her career working in he Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, so that she can help to improve the lives of house elves. She later began work in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. She married Ron and had two children, a daughter named Rose and a son named Hugo.
